January 26th 2007

After last week's good start, a disaster week. Plenty of exercise, but each time I went for a good long walk I felt like a good meal and some wine afterwards. Net result - zero weight loss. You can take it off and then put it back on again. Must try harder next week.

Red - starting. Yellow - current. Green - target.

January 19th 2007

Okay - new targets set and a more determined attempt to lose weight has begun. One major change is that I'm now taking a brisk walk of at least 1 mile each day - more if I can manage it.

On the left is me as of last Friday, weight 241 lbs. The body balloon is proportionate to my weight. Over the coming weeks and months I will be deflating and the body balloon will reflect my weight change. On the right is my target profile at a weight of 196 lbs.

It's been a good start. I lost 2 lbs in the first week, weighing in today at 17 stone 1.

Time To Start Again, Only More Earnestly

I suppose it could have been worse. I've been off my diet for a month - eating and drinking whatever I felt like - and I put on 5 lbs.

I've got to look on the bright side. If I hadn't already fundamentally changed my eating habits I'd have probably put on a stone or more over the Christmas period.

So I'm going to start again. Tomorrow I draw up a new target to aim for over the coming months. I'm going to get down to 14 stone if it kills me. If I don't get down to 14 stone, it probably will anyway!

Yippee! I'm Back To My Diet

It was a cautious Christmas on the old dining table front. Almost frugal, in fact. Just a few dozen bottles of wine, champagne and cognac and the odd snack. This one, for instance, on Christmas day.

Oh, yeah. I almost forgot. This little snack to follow, with a splodge or two of cream.

But in fairness I did manage a good bit of walking to compensate for the calories.

Friday will be the test. I've avoided the bathroom scales for nearly a month. Damage assessment is definitely due.
