Very disappointing. I've cut out a lot of calories this week by reducing alcohol consumption and done some exercise (although clearly not enough) but failed to lose any weight. It all seems so much harder than last year when I lost 2 stone very easily. And Christmas is coming!

R.I.P. Again

Here's to someone who was a great inspiration to me when I was a young boy, who died today of pneumonia, at the grand old age of 79.

I've turned the corner, with my weight starting to reduce again. Only 1 lb this week. but that's all I'm aiming for. I'm determined to keep this up until Christmas.

'Tis the season to be jolly.

Hot winter soups replacing light consommées, roasts of lamb and pork replacing salads, puddings replacing fresh fruit...

A difficult time for those trying to lose weight.

Fresh Air And Exercise

Hampstead Heath this afternoon

After a week of sedentary activity, a long walk across the beautiful, autumnal Hampstead Heath. To the lungs it brings fresh air, to the cheeks a flush, and to the stomach a strong desire to eat a hearty evening meal. Must make sure I don't overeat tonight and undo a good afternoon's work.

November 10th 2006

Another disaster week. No exercise, due to having spent the entire week at home repairing my PC, re-installing software, etc. It's no excuse, but enjoying some good food cooked by my son and combining this with no exercise led to the inevitable results. After watching Channel 4's "Too Big To Walk" the other night, I will be doing some serious walking next week.

November 3rd 2006

Quelle dommage!

Just before I disappeared off to Portugal to pig myself in my friend's restaurant, my PC went down and on return I have had to completely re-build the hard drive. This has taken a great deal of time and hence no posts.

The human body is a strange temple, indeed. A week of gorging on fried cod, steaks, chicken and seafood stews washed down will litres of vinho verde and the result... I lose 2 lbs in weight. Then I come back and take things easy on the ingestion front and the result after a week... I put the 2 lbs back on again!

Aaaaarrrrgggggghhhhhh!!! It's enough to make you want to tuck into a good plate of cod and mash with peppers.
